It’s spring in Houston, that delightful two-to-three weeks a year when it’s warm enough to wear a T-shirt out of doors, but not so warm your face melts off. With spring comes the traditional Houston spring events: the Rodeo, flooding and the annual AIDS Walk Houston. The walk steps off this Sunday, March 11 at Sam Houston Park (1100 Bagby) right next to City Hall. Registration starts at 8 a.m., with the walk itself beginning at 10 a.m.

Each year teams compete to see who can raise the most money and recruit the most walkers. You can participate either as a member of a team (many local businesses, churches and organizations have teams) or as an individual. Sign up to participate and at AIDShelp.org. Online registration is free.

This year’s walk has an ’80s theme in honor of AIDS Foundation Houston’s 30th anniversary, so grab your sweatbands, micro shorts and neon colors and don’t be late.
