The Advocate magazine reported today that Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert is the mayor of Houston. Given that Houston has the first openly gay mayor of any major U.S. city, one would think the national LGBT magazine wouldn’t make such a glaring error. But they did, and below is proof!
Incidentally, The Advocate made the error in a post about our story about alleged discrimination at the Joule Hotel’s PM Nightlife Lounge. The story quoted Leppert’s openly gay chief of staff, Chris Heinbaugh. But the hacks at the Advocate didn’t link to the Voice’s story — they linked to a write-up about our story on a Dallas Morning News blog. So in return, we figured we’d point out their embarrassing error. We wouldn’t want to link to their site, though, so we’ve just posted the screengrab.
Just goes to show…never trust what you read in print…uh, no, wait…that is, only if it’s a major competitor uh, no, wait…oh, never mind…
I would be so confused if I read this and didn’t live in Texas. Headline says Dallas. First sentence says Houston. Article quotes the DALLAS Voice. Aw, fuck it, I can’t keep it straight.
Advocate corrected their story, without noting that it’s an update and without adding a link.
Ummmm, hey reporter, do your homework! Tom Leppert is the incompetent Mayor of DALLAS, not Houston
