Palle Huld won't see Steven Spielberg bring Tintin to life on the big screen later this month: The Danish actor whom Belgian author and cartoonist Georges Remi (known better as Hergé) based his globe-trotting reporter on died late last month at age 98 in a Copenhagen retirement home. In addition to making some 40 films, Huld embarked on an around-the-world journey as a teen after winning a newspaper contest to recreate the circumnavigational voyage of Phileas Fogg from Jules Verne's Around the World in Eighty Days. It's unclear whether Hergé also based his character's sexuality on Huld.
