Abounding Prosperity will open a new facility on Dec. 1, World AIDS Day to replace its community center lost in an arson fire on July 7. The new facility will include AP’s new H.O.P.E. Clinic.
Video taken from Peabody Clinic across the street showed a man sitting in his car for half an hour before entering with what looked like a gasoline can and then throwing a bottle that caused an explosion and the fire. The arsonist hasn’t been caught.
With this loss, the agency’s programs and services were temporarily displaced, however, with the help of the community and loyal supporters AP, Inc. has secured a new temporary space until it builds its own building on property the agency has acquired on MLK Jr. Boulevard. The temporary community center will be at 1705 MLK Jr. Blvd.
