The Dallas Wings, who stand at 19-11 for the 2026 season following their 83-63 victory on the Connecticut Sun on Sunday, Aug. 2 at College Park Center, will play their 2027 season home games at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, team officials announced today (Monday, Aug. 3).
The Wings, currently in fourth place in the WNBA’s Western Conference, relocated to North Texas from Tulsa prior to the 2016 WNBA season. They have played the last 11 seasons with College Park Center in Arlington as their home base. The team was founded in 1998 as the Detroit Shock, then moved to Tulsa in 2015, staying there for six seasons before relocating to North Texas as Dallas Wings.
The Wings signed a 15-year use agreement with the city of Dallas in 2024 to play in Dallas Memorial Auditorium after the facility is renovated, with the team’s first season in the new facility set for 2027. However, the completion date for the Dallas Memorial Auditorium renovation was pushed to 2028 due to broader redevelopment delays, overlapping use as the 2026 FIFA World Cup International Broadcast Center and budget and construction holdups with the adjacent practice facility.
Due to those delays, the Wings are temporarily relocating to American Airlines Center, team officials said, adding that construction continues on the Wings’ “state-of-the-art performance center” in Dallas, located in the West Oak Cliff neighborhood,” with that facility scheduled to open next April as the permanent training home of the Dallas Wings.
Dallas Wings CEO & Managing Partner Greg Bibb said that today’s announcement “marks a pivotal step in the team’s relocation to Dallas as well as our continued growth as a professional sports enterprise. American Airlines Center is a world-class venue in the heart of Dallas providing the spaces and amenities our athletes deserve while delivering an incredible environment for our growing and passionate fan base.”
Bibb thanked “Dave Brown and his talented team at American Airlines Center for all of their work in making AAC the new home of the Dallas Wings.” He also thanked “John Hall, Chris Fulton and the staff at College Park Center for their decade-plus partnership.
“When the team moved to North Texas in 2016, the city of Arlington and University of Texas-Arlington welcomed us and provided an incredible venue for our athletes, coaches, staff, partners and fans,” Bibb said. “College Park Center has always felt like home and that is a credit to the people and the partnership along with the building itself.”
American Airlines Center is already home to the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks and NHL’s Dallas Stars, and it consistently ranks as one of the busiest arenas in the world, according to the press release announcing the Wings’ move.
AAC General Manager Dave Brown said he and his team are “proud to serve as the home of the Dallas Wings, and we look forward to being part of the continued growth and excitement surrounding women’s sports. We have tremendous respect for the organization’s leadership, the talent and dedication of its players, and the bright future of the franchise in Dallas.
“We’re honored to be part of the Wings’ journey and remain committed to supporting the team and its continued success,” Brown said.
Dallas Wings played two regular-season games at AAC in 2025, including a record-setting showing on June 27 against the Indiana Fever. That sold-out crowd of 20,409 at AAC marked a franchise single-game record, the largest WNBA crowd in Texas ever and just the eighth regular-season game in WNBA history to feature more than 20,000 fans in attendance.
Dallas has three scheduled games at AAC during the 2026 season, including a rematch with the Fever on Aug. 20 and the Friday, Aug. 7, showdown with the Golden State Valkyries.
Current Wings season ticket members will have the first opportunity to select seat locations and purchase season tickets for the 2027 season at American Airlines Center. Current member renewals begin on Aug. 10, while those interested in becoming new Wings season ticket members will have their first chance to do so on Aug. 20, coinciding with the Wings-Fever matchup that night.
