Log Cabin Republicans Dallas President Blaine LeBron, center, with LCR Dallas members Ranil Ninala, left, and Bo Richardson at the Black Tie and Boots Texas-themed party held as part of the activities surrounding Donald Trump's inauguration

Dallas Voice this week reached out to Blaine LeBron, president of Log Cabin Republicans of Dallas, for his reactions to executive orders focused on LGBTQ people signed by Donald Trump this week following his inauguration. Here are his responses to our questions.
— Tammye Nash

Dallas Voice: I believe you mentioned that public support for trans rights has eroded. Should public opinion be the basis for civil rights?

Dallas Voice: Trump’s executive order says the government will recognize only two genders. But science says that is inaccurate, that gender is a spectrum not a binary. Shouldn’t government policy be scientifically sound?

Dallas Voice: Trump also rescinded several of Biden’s executive orders including EO 13988, Preventing and Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation, 14004, Enabling All Qualified Americans To Serve Their Country in Uniform and 14075, Advancing Equality for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Individuals. Do you see these as anti-LGBTQ moves and if not, why?

Dallas Voice: Again, you and other LGBTQ conservatives say Trump is the most LGBTQ supportive president ever. But many of those in his administration and many of his closest advisors and supporters are decidedly anti-LGBTQ and are pushing an anti-LGBTQ and, in many people’s opinion, an anti-woman agenda. How do you address those disparities?

Dallas Voice: What have I not asked about that you want to point out or discuss?

  1. Thank you for a great interview of a gay conservative. There are more of us LGBT’s who lean right than most of the left leaning ones want to admit. And thanks to the DV for actually being fair in this interview and not injecting their opinions.

  2. That man is a self hating gay as all gay “conservatives” are. They can make excuses but it boils down to them hating themselves for whom they are.

  3. I agree 1000% with Blaine, our community has endured years of hatred and abuse and have made giant strides, that is until the addition of useless consonants and vowels were included in our fight. What does being ASEXUAL OR INTERSEXUAL have to do with where I take a piss or where i live or whom i love or marry? Apparently Asexuals dont engage in sex and noone cares if you do, those of us that love sex, we dont care if you are gay or straight .. we dont need it on a document , and by all means what does your body having both organs have to do with LGB RIGHTS if what the basis of being HOMOSEXUAL the rights we fought for HAS ALWAYS BEEN who we LOVE AND OUR INNER FEELINGS, not if by some how your body had too many choices on the chromo train to decide what organ to pin on your physique, so you got both! THATS A SCIENCE ISSUE, not a gay or lesbian issue. We dont need to lose everything our community has fought for because someone in the more recent generation decided to make a mockery of being a man or a woman, a him-or her, a he or she. again NOTHING TO DO WITH WHERE WE LIVE WHO WE LOVE OR WHO WE MARRY. Stop the insanity before the theys thems thou’s completely destroy what WE HAVE FOUGHT OUR ENTIRE LIVES FOR. its funny bc this article changes my Tunes about Trumps policies.. I as a 57 year old gay, small business owner who was a democratic now supports what Trumps doing in this regard. Keep LGBT RIGHTS, and all the others quit destroying what we have.

  4. Can we please get an update on this interview! Since its publication, we have seen IDAHO push and pass legislation to bring back the marriage equality decision to the Supreme Court in hopes to over turn it. We have seen Transgender individuals be rejected identification for Passports and Licenses be denied their gender assignment even with legal evidence of reassignment. If this administration is really about unity, if this Republican Party stands behind the LGBT community then what these very limiting and harsh stances. Where is the republican support for marriage equality or recognizing women and men even post transition. Denying that this Republican Party is anti LGBT when they tout the return to Christian values in this country is gaslighting and dismissive. Sorry but where were the fact based questions here? Like where are we showing this conservative factual data. Did we just allow someone to gaslight us because they came prepared and the interviewer softballed the interview?

  5. LeBron, like all conservatives whether LGBTQ or not, is an extremist driven by hate and greed. Trump’s LGBTQ appointees are no different. And LeBron’s statement on LCRs position on the rights of our transgender brothers and sisters is just another lie – LCRs support 100% every hate driven anti-LGBTQ position that Republicans take. Lets be honest about things – the U.S. is now a right wing extremist state supportive of neo-Nazis, white nationalists, Proud Boys, and every other right-wing hate group in existence. Just because Trump appointed a couple of gay neo-Nazis to his cabinet – that doesn’t mean that he’s not an anti-LGBTQ bigot, it just proves that he found a few detestable, simpering, LGBTQ opportunists who are willing and eager to do his dirty work. Bessent, Grenell and Bruce would happily push us all into gas chambers if it didn’t e”affect them (especially if it put a penny in their pockets). These are not good people, just more malicious, vicious, self-serving extremist trash.

  6. Blaine LeBron’s recent article oversimplifies key issues facing the LGBTQ+ community, relying on fallacies to support his argument. He falsely equates individual appointments, like Richard Grenell, to systemic LGBTQ+ support, ignoring the administration’s rollback of protections for transgender people and lack of comprehensive policies. LeBron also uses public opinion as a basis for civil rights, which is a flawed argument—civil rights should not be contingent on majority approval.

His personal experience as a gay man is used to generalize the needs of transgender individuals, especially minors, which oversimplifies a complex issue. Additionally, his focus on nonbinary identities at the federal level distracts from more urgent concerns, like homelessness within the LGBTQ+ community or legal protections.

Furthermore, there are troubling allegations against LeBron, including involvement in inappropriate behavior and offensive remarks about transgender individuals, casting doubt on his genuine commitment to LGBTQ+ rights.

Ultimately, LeBron’s arguments fail to address the real, pressing needs of the community and detract from the broader fight for equality. True progress requires inclusive, meaningful action, not superficial gestures or divisive rhetoric.
