This is the list of countries that have a ban on gays (and lesbians, where women may serve) in the military. We’re in great company:
Cuba, China, Egypt, Greece, Iran, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Somalia, South Korea, Sudan, Syria, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Uganda, United States, Venezuela and Yemen.
With the civilian dropping a hint of sarcasm, anyone want to to toe-to-toe with China’s Big Red? How about any of our tough guys going manno-to-manno with ROK Marines? If Vietnam, Iraq & A’Stan have whipped pur tough butts… sure NK would be a cake walk… ooops… we did dance with them already.
How many of our “got-your-back” allies still force their citizens into uniform? Think of all the big $$$ the US could save simply by conscripting.
I’ve had quite enough of your Yemeni bashing, Mr. Taffet…
Anytime we bring up the fact that our strongest allies don’t ban gays in the military, their response is “how DARE we try to be more like the Europeans!” I can’t believe we let them get away with that statement when the status quo is that we have the same policies as the countries that hate us the most. Our response should be “How DARE we have the same policies as Venezuela, Cuba, Syria and North Korea?”
