IMG_7338-copyA pair of Cowtown eateries we enjoyed in 2014:

Pegaso Diner, pictured. We’re always happy to see Monica Greene back in a nearby kitchen, and her TCU-area counter-style eatery — stealing a name from her pioneering Downtown Dallas restaurant and a process from her closed Oak Cliff enchiladeria BEE — is an ideal entry back into the market: Simple but flavorful (the best refried beans I’ve had in my life). Fancy? Nah. Who needs fancy when you have good food prepared by people who know what they’re doing?
Little Red Wasp. Chef Blaine Staniford does a great job at Cowtown’s fine-dining establishment Grace, but his smaller eatery just down the street appeals to a more casual crowd. The dishes are basic but well-made and the service has always been top-notch.
