One man is dead and another charged with his murder following a shooting early this morning (Sunday, Sept. 21) in the 4100 block of Cedar Springs Road, according to Dallas Police Department reports.

Police called to the location at 1:20 a.m. and found Thomas Sebastinelli, 48, who had been shot. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded also, but the victim died at the scene. Reports say that Earnest Polk, 32, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with Sebastinelli’s death.

Dallas County Jail records show that Earnest Polk was booked into the jail at 8:41 this morning. No information on bail was available.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact DPD Det. Ronald Kramer by phone at 214-671-3608 or by email at Ronald.Kramer@DallasPolice.gov.

The 4100 block of Cedar Springs is that section of the street located between Knight Street and Douglas Avenue, with  Kroger grocery store and the Oak Lawn Branch of the Dallas Public Library on the north side of the street at 4123 Cedar Springs (formerly ilume) on the south side of the street.

This location is the starting point for the fourth annual Pride in Dallas Parade, starting this afternoon at 2 p.m. The parade will move east on Cedar Springs to end at Oak Lawn Avenue.

Although it does not mention the shooting, a post earlier today on the Pride in Dallas Facebook page reiterates the organization’s commitment to safety at its event:

“Safety is our top priority at every PiD event. For the parade today, we will have security officers from the local contracted security group on the roofs of the buildings keeping an eye on everything. If you see something out of place, say something. Pride in Dallas leadership and volunteers will be easily noticeable. Happy Pride! Enjoy the parade!”

Dallas Voice will update this post as more information on the shooting becomes available.
