Dallas WingsThe Dallas Wings announced auditions for their new dance team, Flight Crew, as it prepares for its inaugural DFW season. Auditions will take place March 26 in Grapevine, starting at 8:30 a.m.
The organization seeks to bring an elite group of male and female hip-hop dancers and crew members together, with previous hip hop experience, who can execute high energy and strong hip hop choreography with great projection and animation, i.e., tumbling, tricks, and break dancing.
This year’s Flight Crew will be under the direction of Sydne Miller, a former Kilgore College Rangerette who performed on large stages including college football’s Cotton Bowl Classic, multiple Dallas Cowboy halftimes, the Pearl Harbor 70th Anniversary and the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Miller is a graduate of Baylor University where she performed on the Baylor Songleaders Pom Squad. Miller currently serves on the Marching Auxiliaries Dance and Drill as a choreographer, instructor, and camp planner for middle and high school drill and dance teams across the country.

A celebrity panel of judges will be in attendance to select this year’s squad. Among the panel is Riquel Olander, who is an original member of the only female crew to ever win Randy Jackson presents Americas Best Dance Crew on MTV. Olander has danced for many stars including J.Lo, Rihanna, T-Pain, Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé and Britney Spears. She owns her own company, R.O. Studios, which involves choreographing, hosting, a clothing line and judging many competitions, like HHI USA and HHI France, Urban Street Jam, and World Of Dance all across the United States. She also works for the Emmy Awards.
Also judging, are Dallas Mavericks dancer Lauren Gibler, professional dancer Allie Hudak and other special guest judges to announced soon.
Gibler is no stranger to the dance scene. She is a former member of the World Famous Kilgore College Rangerettes and is in her 6th season as a Mavs dancer. The Kilgore College alum, has also been chosen multiple times to travel around the world representing the Dallas Mavericks organization, and has been featured last six Dallas Mavericks Dancers calendars.
Hudak comes from a strong background in dance. The TCU graduate received a bachelor’s in Modern dance, and has choreographed and taught for several schools and studios throughout DFW. She also served as an adjunct faculty member for the TCU Department of Contemporary and Classical Dance. She is currently the dance department director at Birdville High School, and is a member of Marching Auxiliaries Dance Staff, where she travels nationwide producing dance camps and contests.
Auditions for the new Flight Crew will be held at LifeSong Studio, 3105 Ira E. Woods Ave., Grapevine. Those seeking to audition must be 18 years of age by the date, with a high school diploma awarded by the end of the 2015-16 school year.
