In a race that was a virtual tie after early voting, state Sen. Wendy Davis, D-Fort Worth, has now pulled ahead of Republican challenger Mark Shelton in a key race for the LGBT community.

With 65 percent of precincts reporting, Davis had 130,290 votes, or 51 percent, to Shelton’s 125,357 votes, or 49 percent.

Meanwhile, lesbian Texas House candidate Ann Johnson continues to trail in her bid to give Texas two openly LGBT legislators.

With 43 percent of precincts reporting in District 134 in Harris County, incumbent Republican Sarah Davis had 36,280 votes, or 56 percent, to Johnson’s 28,951 votes, or 44 percent.
