Cupcakes and kiddies at 2nd annual toy drive
Local fashion photographer Steven D. Hill launched his Heads with Hearts toy drive just last year, but when you have nieces and nephews as cute as his (see above), how can you stop the gift giving? Admission to the mixer, which also benefits Vogel Alcove and Kidscape Foundation, is a new, upwrapped toy … and The Original Cupcakery will reward the first 50 attendees with a sweet treat!

D’oh! ‘MacHomer’ combines Simpsons and Shakespeare
The idea alone is genius: Perform a one-man version of The Bard’s shortest, bloodiest tragedy, MacBeth … but assign all the voices to Simpsons characters: Homer as the Thane, Marge as his Lady, Mr. Burns as the king …. We just wish we’d thought of it. Then again, we’re glad we didn’t — otherwise, we wouldn’t get to see Rick Miller perform it at the Winspear on Thursday. What greater sound and fury could there be than Homer craving power? Sounds nuts! …. Arrrrghhhhh… donuts.

DEETS:
Winspear Opera House
2403 Flora St.
8 p.m. $35.
