North Texas president, CEO to help developing GLBT business groups

Tony Vedda

Tony Vedda, president and CEO of the North Texas GLBT Chamber of Commerce, was appointed Mountain/Southwest regional chair of the Council of Chambers and Business Organizations, a committee of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.

The focus of his new position is to "serve as a resource for new and developing chambers," he said. In the region, there are nine chambers, four of those in Texas. Vedda said that the regional chair should be a "communication conduit between local and national groups and among regional chambers." In this region, the North Texas Chamber is the only one with full-time, paid staff.

"Tony’s firsthand knowledge of chamber operations and his years of experience will be of enormous valuable to the NGLCC and the Council," said Derrick Brown, North Texas GLBT Chamber board chairman.

Vedda has been membership specialist for the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce and worked for general membership chambers in Arizona and California as well as the Golden Gate Business Association in San Francisco, the nation’s first LGBT chamber of commerce.
