Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez has sent a statement to Dallas Voice indicating that information released yesterday by the Dallas County Democratic Party was incorrect regarding her resignation as sheriff to run for governor. Valdez said she is still considering a run for governor, but has not announced her resignation or intention to run for higher office.
This is the statement Valdez’s office sent to Dallas Voice this morning, Nov. 30 at 10 a.m.:
“As she has stated in the past, the sheriff is considering the next stage in her career. A letter of resignation was not submitted today. The sheriff will make a formal announcement when her final decision is made.”
County Judge Clay Jenkins sent the following statement reinforcing Valdez comments:
“Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins and/or County staff have not received notification document(s) of an intent to resign from any county elected official.”
