Kristy Morgan, sister of Chad Gibson, just called me to give an update on her brother. Chad is the man who was hospitalized after being thrown to the floor by police during a raid last night on the Rainbow Lounge in Fort Worth.
Kristy said the initial CAT scan performed earlier today showed little or no damage. However, a second CAT scan performed this afternoon showed that the bleeding in his brain had increased.
“We won’t know anything more until tomorrow when they do more tests,” she said.
Kristy said Chad has awake today, but that he has no memory of the incident in the bar and that his memor of events today have been spotty. She said he remembers her being there, but that he doesn’t remember talking to the doctor this morning, and he doesn’t remember visits by some of his friends during the day.
“It doesn’t matter who you are or what kind of bar you are in,” Kristy said, “none of this should have happened, to anybody. It’s excessive force, and it shouldn’t have happened.”
we will pray for you . best wishes
This needs national coverage!
Prayers are with Chad and his family. Do they need anything?
Tammye– what can we (who missed the rally do to help?
I will be talking about this on my blogtalkradio show at 10:30pm Eastern Time. I was receiving a lot of harrassing calls during my show and took a stand. We have to stand up for each other and this is my way of doing so. Call in and let your voice be heard and help spread the word about this injustice

Thank you all for your prayers! On behalf of my family – we truly appreciate everyone’s concern !
This is utterly monstrous and a a swift rebuttal to anyone who claims gays have enough rights already. What the hell.
Eyewitness and Rainbow Lounge CPA Tom Anable will be joining myself and Jack Bishop on The Rational Radio Report at 7:30am Monday to give his account of the events of Saturday night. Anyone who wishes to confirm or contradict those accounts is welcome to join us at (214)631-1360 or (800)277-1637 ext.703. If you do not wish to go on the air, call me at (214)597-1368 or e-mail rich@rationalradio.org.
Tune in live at 1360AM or stream live at rationalradio.org and click Listen.
I personally wish to extend my hopes and prayers for Chad Gibson and his family.
This madness has to stop.

The Cops involved should be put in jail for assult.
Especially because they were Texas police….the only reason why Texas is still an economic power is because of all the west and east coast northerners who moved there with their brains. The Texas police however…..locals……yes….teach them a lesson regarding respect for their fellow citizens.
NO human should experience the brutality that Chad experienced early Sunday morning. The police could not have picked a worse (or better from gay perspective) day to pick on the LGBT community. 40th anniversary of Stonewall rebellion, people already pumped up after a awesome march in Dallas. Now they’re gonna have to deal with the rainbow wrath! My thoughts are with Chad and his family and he can be assured that the DFW LGBT community will not let this incident slide through cracks.
I wish they would name the officers involved in this. I doubt they have the guts to name them .
Sadly, this is what it takes to get us motivated. Let’s keep things going while were HOT! It’s time for another movement for a new generation.
Since Chad’s memory is conveniently foggy, perhaps he should be reminded that he hit his head when he passed out from drinking way too much, not because he was “thrown to the floor.” And has no one else spotted the inconsistency of an initial cat scan showing “little or no damage,” but a secondary scan showing “increased bleeding”? How can there be an increase of something that wasn’t there in the first place? If the police really were the brutal thugs you are making them out to be, they’d be in the news daily, because that’s how often drunks are arrested in bars. Stop being lemmings and instead take a long hard look at the facts.
Coming from a scientific background, I’m not gonna try to have a conversation about or comment on law enforcement policy. So I would recommend that Pro Police not try to comment on science-related issues which is obviously not his field of expertise. I would like to explain exactly what intracerebral hemorraghing is but I don’t want to hurt his ittle brain. We’ve had enough brain injury for one weekend.
Dear Pro Police~
It is very easy for an initial CAT to show nothing with subsequent CAT scans showing significantly more. My brother had a bad seizure years ago with initial CAT scans showing nothing. The next day CAT scan showed a mass on his brain. This prompted an MRI which showed a massive brain tumor. It can happen.
Did you know that it usually takes 3 days for the fullness of a brain injury to be realized?
Further, brain injuries can take place and show no initial signs of damage until bleeding and swelling within the skull slowly manifest. The dangerous part of a brain injury like that is there is nowhere for the brain to swell to. It is contained within the skull and cannot swell up like injuries to other parts of the body.
Look into Natasha Richardson’s and most recently, Billy May’s head injuries follow by their deaths.
My heart is breaking for Chad and his family! I have known Chad for 17 years and he is one of greatest guys you could ever know. This is a young man that moved back home a few years ago to help his mother in caring for his aging grandmother. Chad is one of the hardest working young men you’ll ever meet, He is smart, witty, funny and all around a good guy. He’s a good person that shows his love to his mother, sister, the rest of his family and friends. Chad did not deserve this! No one does!!! My thoughts and prayers go out to Chad and his family.
Chad, I LOVE YOU and get well soon!
This incident is just disgraceful! I hope those responsible are punished.
Best wishes to Chad for a speedy recovery.
Tammye – I’m horrified to hear of what happened to Chad, but I must offer my aid to him and his family.
When I was 16 years old, I suffered a severe head injury which left me partially paralyzed and in a coma for a month. I have been where Chad is, and my family has been where Kristy is.
But for the Grace of God, I would be more limited now than I am, although I still have some issues pop up from my head trauma–most people don’t notice them, but I do.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do for Chad or his family. My prayers are with you all.
Mark
Actually he was getting restrained by his neck. So had he been drinking a very low level. He still would have passed out eventually. But the officer did take him down.
As a former law enforcement officer, I am ashamed at the conduct demonstrated by the TABC and FWPD. My prayers are with Chad and his family.
Hmmm. This looks like it needs strong agression on the people of D/FW and the state of texas to justify this action with reasonable accountablity and punishment.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers! I would like to clarify a couple of questions that seem to be out there. My brother had been drinking, yes. On his way to the restroom, he was attacked from behind and thrown against a wall and his hands tied together with zip-ties. Eye witness accounts say the police could not get his feet apart (b/c he had on dock martins) and threw him to the ground. We are not sure if he hit his head at this point or later on when they took him outside and pushed him to the ground again when he was throwing up. The police are saying he “fell”. How do you “fall” when your hands are zip-tied and police are walking you around outside? They either ALLOWED him to fall or pushed him to the ground. When he was admitted to the ER, his cat-scan did show that an artery in his brain had busted open and was slowly leaking blood onto his brain. His second cat scan just hours later showed that blood was still leaking onto his brain from this artery. If blood continues to leak, it has no where to go and the brain starts rejecting it and can cause seizures, among other things. The only way to relieve that pressure the blood puts on the brain is to drill a hole in your brain and give it somewhere to go. At this point, the bleeding has slowed down but has not stopped. This is not the kind of injury that someone would get from a fall!!!!
I think most of you are hypocrites. We don’t know really what happened at the bar until the full investigation by whoever took over for the FWPD. U guys are just as bad…guilty before proven innocent. and some of y’all are just as bad talking bad about each other. I’m sorry for what happened to Mr. Gibson. But until all the facts are in all of u shouldn’t be putting the blame on anybody. And its not just the gay bar they do a bar check on. They do bar checks in the whole area, so don’t think cuz its a gay bar they targeted it out for a bar check. I’m just so sick and tired of all of you blaming everybody else and then calling each other names like ur any better then anybody else. Whats going to happen if all the witnesses say he fell and hit his head cuz he was so drunk? Did anybody test his blood alcohol level? Anyway…Chad Gibson u r in my prayers and Ur bleeding may get worse before it gets better, be strong and have the will to live and get better and u will be ok.
Kristy,
What can we do for you and your family? Is there anything you need?
The only thing we need right now are your prayers for Chad…..Thank you for asking!
Regarding my brother failling, or being thrown to the ground – again, please let me stress that everything we have learned has all been from eye witness accounts. the stories we have heard from people that were at the bar (and did not know him) and from those that were with him have all been the same – that my brother was not doing anything to deserve this. Even if his blood alcohol was above the legal limit, no one deserves to end up the ICU with a brain injury, and you can not get a brain injury from falling. His head injury was in his hairline, and not consistent with falling flat on your face, as the police have indicated. His friends have said he did not grope any police officers – as they came up behind him, nor did he make any sexual advances. People around him that night said that he did nothing but simply try to walk to the bathroom.
My prayers are with Chad that God will grant him healing and quick recovery. God give y’all the strength you need, and let you feel His love in your hearts. Blessings y’all~
Prayers for a quick recovery for Chad and grace and comfort for his family.
Kristy, please let Heather and I know if you need anything
Chad’s plight and the questionable nature of the raid are getting some national attention. There is a front page posting on the story at michaelmoore.com, and I was asked to appear on the nationally-syndicated Thom Hartmann radio show on Tuesday at 1:15pm CDT. We did a full segment on the glaring discrepancies between the initial police reports to the press about “sexually explicit moves” toward uniformed officers (preposterous), and the eyewitness accounts which we at 1360 Rational Radio have been covering since Sunday afternoon on the Jackie Jett Show. The Rational Radio Report, which airs from 7-9am CDT, will continue to update Chad’s condition and the status of the current investigation. Anyone wishing to contribute additional information may do so by calling (214)631-1360. Let us know if you do not wish to go on the air.
Those who do nothing in the face of injustice can expect little more than the same.
What’s Past is Prologue.
Dear Kristy, Chard and members of Chad’s family and friends
News of the Rainbow Lounge incident has spread throughout the world.
Please know that many of us are thinking of you in this difficult time, and have written to the mayor and councilmembers asking for a full and independent investigation.
You are not alone and we stand watch with you in the hope that justice will be done.
I have a question for “pro police, against police” : Would people be less likely to defend the police and their actions if it was a racially related hate crime? WHy is it still allowable in society for a crime to be perpetrated because of sexual orientation? I live in Louisiana and I’m painfully aware of the bigotry and prejudice in the south, but it doesn’t have to be this way and I really hope that the attention focused on FW shows that this was never acceptable, and will not be tolerated. How tragically ironic that this happened so close to the anniversary of Stonewall. Chad and your family are in my prayers, Kristy
Dear Kristy and family, I will pray for you all, for a full recovery, for peace and protection, and for justice. I pray that the officers who assaulted Chad, and the administration who condoned the assault, will learn that every human life has value, and whether we are gay or straight, we deserve to socialize in public without the threat of grave injury. My opinion is that these officers should be prosecuted as far as the law allows. My hope is that new legislation will arise making it a crime to even THINK about hurting someone just because they’re different. I know I live in a dream world, but the dream is so much better than the reality. God bless you all, and give your mom a big hug for me.
In my thoughts in prayers. And you should get the ACLU so the evil bastards who did this
