In 2016, the United Methodist Church convenes and the major topic on the agenda is same-sex marriage. The Methodist Church is the only major mainline Christian denomination that forbids its clergy from participating in a same-sex marriage or allowing a same-sex marriage from taking place in one of its churches.
A “listening session” will be held at Oak Lawn United Methodist Church, 3014 Oak Lawn Ave. from 7-9 p.m. tonight, Jan. 5.
North Texas delegates to the General Conference will attend to listen to your thought about issues of inclusion. Members of Northaven United Methodist Church, a very inclusive North Dallas congregation, are planning to attend to share their experiences.
