Donald Trump on Saturday, Dec. 14, announced that he had chosen his former intelligence chief, gay man Richard Grennell, as presidential envoy for special missions for Trump’s second administration.
Grennell’s post will likely put him in position to drive policies toward some U.S. adversaries, including North Korea, according to reports by Reuters. Trump said via Truth Social that Grennell will “work in some of the hottest spots around the world, including Venezuela and North Korea.” But he offered no further description of what Grennell’s duties will be.
A Trump transition source told Reuters that Grennell will also focus on tensions in the Balkans.
During Trump’s first administration, Grennell was ambassador to Germany, a special presidential envoy for Servia and Kosovo peace negotiations and acting director of national intelligence.
So how’s that for supposedly being an “anti gay” president who is seeking to take away the rights of gay people?
