Porn legend Ryan Idol, (a.k.a. Marc Anthony Donais) pictured, will be gracing the Great White Way next month. Casting for a revival of Terrence McNally’s bathhouse musical “The Ritz” was recently announced, and Idol has been listed as one of the bathhouse “patrons.”
Idol, who’s 41 years old, isn’t a theatrical newbie. He’s performed in countless touring productions of “Making Porn,” which even made it to Austin a few years ago. Some fans gave Idol’s naked manhood standing ovations.
What’s 10 times more fabulous is that Rosie Perez will play the part of Googie Gomez the role that Rita Moreno played full-tilt-boogie in the 1976 version. Googie, you will remember, had noticeable lack of talent and a very pronounced Puerto Rican accent.
Directed by Joe Mantello, “The Ritz” begins previews Sept. 14 at Studio 54 and officially open Oct. 11. The limited engagement will run through Dec. 2.
