picture-4.pngA headline in the Dallas Morning News today proclaims that a “pre-operative transvestite” is suspected in a bank robbery. The question is: What the hell difference does that make? In the DMN’s defense, the words “pre-operative transvestite” were in quotation marks, as they were quoting Paul Daymond, an FBI spokesman from big surprise Alabama. What’s more shocking: That a spokesman doesn’t use terminology like “transvestite” properly (transgender or transsexual, please, Mr. Daymond) or that the DMN thinks that should be in the headline and the lead. It’s all rather reminiscent of an hysterical article that appeared years ago in my favorite source of fake news, The Onion. Arnold Wayne Jones
