Behind the magic eight track

Christmas isn’t just for presents, football, family and movies. At least not this time. Even non-Christmas folk can partake in something beyond a Chinese food meal. Today, the Eight Track Museum opens. The obsolete music medium gets its due thanks to local record producer Bucks Burnett. The museum celebrates all forms of media in which music has been produced from wax cylinders to cassettes and even into the modern age. But really, don’t you wanna see your old trash disco eight-tracks on display? And if you have your own but don’t know what to do with them, Burnett might offer a suggestion.

DEETS: Eight Track Museum, 2630 E. Commerce St. (in the Deep Ellum Foundation building). 1–7 p.m. $10. EightTrackMuseum.org
