In far North Dallas, Republican former City Councilwoman Linda Koop easily defeated Democrat George Clayton.
Clayton is gay and switched parties to run in this race. On the Dallas City Council, Koop was always an ally and is expected to continue to be an ally in the Texas House. She replaces Stefani Carter, a tea party candidate who was considered one of the dumbest members of the Texas House.
Texas Rep. Kenneth Sheets won reelection in East Dallas defeating Democrat Carol Donovan. That race was closely watched by Stonewall Democrats.
Republican Morgan Meyer will replace Dan Branch. Branch lost his bid for attorney general.
In the race to replace Republican Linda Harper Brown in Irving, Democrat Susan Motley lost to Republican Rodney Anderson.
