This weekend the winningest team in women’s football history and “one of the most dominant teams in Texas professional sports,” the Texas Elite Spartans, kick off the 2026 season on Saturday, March 28 at 7 p.m. at UTA Maverick Stadium in Arlington. For its opening night, the Spartans will take on the Mississippi Panthers.
Founded by lesbian owner Odessa Jenkins, the team has grown in popularity as interest in women and girls football is rising. According to Jenkins, the brand has generated more than 20 million views on socials and attendance has increased.

Quarterback Michelle Angel was recently announced to the inaugural WNFC x adidas ambassador class which features seven athletes who represent the elite tier of performance, leadership and visibility across the WNFC league.
The moment marked a turning point, not just for the WNFC, but for the future of women’s professional football.
