Valentine’s Day is closer than you think — or at least it is if that special person in your life expects more than a Whitman’s Sampler and Hallmark card. (Hi, honey!)
In addition to the usual items, Hector’s on Henderson wil offer a five course tasting menu Friday, Feb. 12, through Sunday, Feb. 14 for $65/person. Service begins a half-hour earlier than usual as well

Meanwhile, several eateries are doing their part to support relief in Haiti. On Monday and Tuesday, the Lombardi restaurants — including Café Toulouse, Taverna, Sangria, Cibus and Penne Pomodoro — will donate 10 percent of all food sales to humanitarian efforts in the quake-ravaged nation.
Cyclone Anaya’s is helping out more locally, sponsoring a fundraising dinner to help send the Turtle Creek Chorale, pictured, on its tour to Spain. On Feb. 1, the Oak Lawn location of the Mexican restaurant will donate a portion of the night’s sales to the TCC’s travel fund.
Over in Fort Worth, gay restaurateur Scott Jones’ newest venture, Cowtown Diner, opened last week in Sundance Square. Inspired by old-school lunch counters with spinning pies and homecooked meals — look for a portrait of Original Market Diner icon Natalie on a back wall — it serves high-end food, much with a Louisiana flair. And like the best of diners, it’ll be open early (6 a.m.!) and stay open late.
Dragonfly at Hotel ZaZa has begun Neighborhood Night every Thursday, with beer, wine, wells and select appetizers for $5 each from 5 p.m. until close.
Beginning Feb. 4, Tre Amici Prime Steakhouse in Far North Dallas launches its quarterly Savor the Arts. Artwork hung throughout the dining and bar areas will available for purchase or through a silent auction. Proceeds benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
