The 2009 AIDS Walk — Tarrant County, a 5K walk benefiting the Tarrant County AIDS  Outreach Center, will be held Sunday, April 5. The fundraising goal for this year is $120,000

Walkers will start at the Fort Worth Community Art Center, 1300 Gendy St., and wind their way through the Fort Worth Botanic Garden before ending up back at the Arts Center.

AOC is starting its 23rd year of providing HIV/AIDS-related services to the people of Tarrant County and eight other surrounding rural counties, officials said. This is the 17th annual AIDS Walk.

Vendor tables and informational booths will be set up at the Arts Center, opening at 1 p.m., along with registration for the event. For information on having a booth or table at the event, contact Special Events Manager Candi Rath at 817-335-1994, ext. 224, or by e-mail at candir@aoc.org.

The booth fee is $25 for nonprofit organizations and $50 for for-profit organizations and businesses. Booths include a six-foot table and two chairs, with electricity available. Those who need electricity have to provide their own extension cords.
Officials said all proceeds from the walk will go directly to AOC services and programs, since donations from sponsors have covered expenses for the event.
