In the last four years, Mason Wyler has been staying busy as an erotic entertainer.

Only 24 years old, Wyler has worked for practically every major studio: Jet Set Productions, Hot House Entertainment, Studio 2000, Falcon Titan, All Worlds Video and COLT. The Arlington-raised hottie proved that you don’t have to move to Los Angeles to work in porn. Wyler recently graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in social studies education.

His newest DVD, "Strong Will: The Assertion" (Buckshot, $69.95) will be released on Saturday. It’s a sex fest about eight college students who can’t seem to concentrate on their philosophy assignment. Coincidentally, "Strong Will" also features Dallas erotic stud Guy Parker, who’s pictured on the box cover.

Wyler regularly keeps his fans and online-friends updated about his life on his MySpace page. Dallas Voice recently caught up with him to find out how he’s adjusting to life in downtown Dallas, where Wyler and his boyfriend, Marcus, recently relocated. Marcus works at Rush where earlier this week, Wyler had his first Dallas meet-and-greet.

You’re originally from Arlington. In high school, did you date or fool around with any male classmates? Junior high and high school was spent in Arlington. And during my sophomore year, I did mess around with a friend. It didn’t go so well: He couldn’t accept his sexuality, and I ended up getting hurt.

At University of North Texas, do you know if any of your teachers were aware of your erotica career? Actually, no. But it might have been a good thing — for my grades and my sex life.

If you were going to teach a class about how to survive and succeed in gay porn, what valuable lessons you’d impart?
1) Never let things go to your head. Always stay humble.
2) Keep fit, work out, and maintain and improve your physical image.
3) Don’t be afraid to try new things.

Part of "Strong Will" includes a professor’s syllabus in which students must read Schopenhauer’s great philosophic work, "The World as Will and Idea." To prepare for your role, did you actually read the book? Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to read the whole book, but I read excerpts. From what read, I felt as though the author sounded like a repressed homosexual.

Name three books you read in college that had any impact on your life: "Guns, Germs and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies," by Jared Diamond, (W. W. Norton & Company, 1999). "To Rule Jerusalem," by Roger Friedland and Richard Hecht (University of California Press, 2000). "The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America," by Erik Larson (Vintage, 2004).

On your MySpace page, you say have mental Rolodex — at the downtown 24 Hour Fitness, you recognize guys from their online profiles. Do a lot of those same guys recognize you from your work? I wish they did. But I honestly have no idea.

Do you mind it when guys approach you because they know you from your work? Not at all. It really makes me feel special. And it doesn’t happen often enough.

If you taught an etiquette lesson on "How to Approach a Porn Star," what would you tell your students? Keep it simple. Start with "Are you that porn star …?" And ask whatever you want — it may be the only time you ever bump into him.

Ten years from now, what would you like to be doing? My husband — on a sailboat, traveling from port to port around the world. And hopefully still making a name for myself in porn.
