Stonewall President Omar Narvaez tied in his race for Democratic precinct chair in his northeast Dallas neighborhood.
He and incumbent Al Ortiz each received 16 votes.
“My understanding is there are several ways this could be resolved,” Narvaez said.
The race could be decided by a game of chance such as a coin flip, roll of dice or card draw. Or the executive committee, made up of other precinct chairs, could vacate the election and choose a new chair.
Either way, Narvaez said he feels he did well against a 20-year incumbent.
“Of course, I wish I had gotten out one more voter,” he said.
More than 1,000 people are registered to vote in that precinct and about 40 percent are Democrats.
