Cycles and style meet at LSR’s Passion for Fashion

Other than biker shorts and colorful clingy tops, there isn’t much that’s fashionable about cycling … unless Hugo Boss or Dolce & Gabbana designs the outfit. Then it’s a whole different story.
Just expect to see those names on the runway instead of the parkway at Friday’s Passion for Fashion.
"We put our heads together to come up with an event and figured a fashion show would be great," says Lone Star Ride event manager David Minehart. "Caven was on board so we had the Rose Room. Then the Lincomn Agency donated models and Saks donated fashions."
The show is a benefit for the Lone Star Locker program, which offers gently used loaner bikes to those wanting to participate but those who don’t have wheels. The program has become so popular that LSR is working to keep up with the demand. All their current inventory of bicycles is on loan, so Passion for Fashion will be the program’s fundraiser for LSR to purchase more.
"We have some money left but need to raise more. It’s a great problem to have, but we still need to increase the inventory," Minehart says.
For that need, people and companies came together quickly to put on this first time event. Such a quick response left Minehart almost speechless.
"It’s hard to describe but it makes me pleased to be part of a community that supports itself," he says. "We’re very honored and it says that we’re on the right track. That’s a fantastic feeling."
A feeling he hopes translates into the event. Not only do they need to raise the money, Minehart still wants Passion for Fashion to be a success.
"We’ll get to raise money but also introduce people to Lone Star Ride and have a great
time."
