Sam Adams, the openly gay mayor of Portland, announced Sunday that he won’t resign after admitting he lied about a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old, The Associated Press reports here. Also, in response to Kia’s request below, above is a photo of the 18-year-old, Beau Breedlove, courtesy of HX.com. To see more photos of Breedlove, go here.
GOOD for HIM!!
Beed Love indeed!!!! I’m down…
I aint mad atcha Sam!
Beau is cute! Work it, Sam.
I put this is a similar category as “justifiable homicide.”
Call me naive but isn’t having sex with an employee a bad thing and any other elected official would have to resign?
That kid is hot! Where do we put in our application for employment at the desk (or stall) next to his?! We’d punch his timeclock any day…
There have been countless boss/intern relationships that didn’t end in resignation. It’s not like the kid was changing public policy (or had any sort power at all) as a result of schupping the boss. With politicians, the issue is more about illegal access to classified information by blackmailing the politico. I can’t imagine that Portland’s mayor poses much risk.
Tisha:
Breedlove did not work for Adams. When they met, Adams was a city commissioner, and Breedlove was a legislative intern at the state Capitol.
Thanx for the explanation and yeah he’s hot, if you like your men malnourished. lol
We haven’t eaten since the late 90’s, unless you count the limes in our Voddie Sevens. So, I guess that’s precisely the look we like!
Tisha – how soon we forget the second term saga of Bill Clinton who had sex with a real live intern, during work hours even, then lied about it under oath. And no, he didn’t resign.
As for gaylistdaily.com – you make the very point why boss/intern relationships are such a problem and are fundamentally unacceptable – it’s because the intern has no power! That’s why it constitutes unlawful sexual harassment under federal and most state laws regardless of what either of the participants think it is.
It’s for that reason that most private companies forbid this kind thing – because it’s a lawsuit waiting to happen. Elected officials who succumb to the temptation of a pretty face on their staff expose the public (ie. the taxpayer) to liability which is precisely the opposite of what they should be doing – protecting the public from liability.
