ABOUT THE VOTING
For this year’s awards, we looked to the community to define My Gay Texas in photography. The nominees included a diverse spectrum, from artsy to poignant to political — all representing life in Texas from an LGBT perspective.
This year, 929 voters selected Shannon Kern’s photo as the top image, but we consider all of our submissions as winners. Thanks to all the photographers who took the time to submit their work and open it up to public vote!
With the photo contest and the nine categories of favorites, we received more than 10,000 electronic votes. Dallas peeps like to eat out, as the Dine category received the most votes in a particular section.
The Round-Up Saloon took the most votes of any one place, for top Dallas club.
With some new winners and familiar names, we now present your choices for the 2012 Readers Voice Awards.
