Resource Center Dallas recognized the more than 1,160 people who gave more than 44,000 volunteer hours to RCD at the Volunteer Appreciation Party held Jan. 15 at the Starlight Room in the Dallas West End.

Longtime volunteer Jennifer Owens received RCD’s 2009 Martha Dealey Volunteer of the Year Award for her significant contributions to RCD programs including Gaybingo Dallas, JEWEL and GEAR.

Jim Reese received the Randolph Terrell Community Service Award, given to a group or individual for exceptional service to the LGBT community and/or people living with HIV/AIDS.

Gerald Pennington received the Suzanne Wilson Award, presented to the year’s most significant volunteer in Client Services. Jim LeCroy received the John Thomas Award as the Gay & Lesbian Community Center’s exceptional volunteer of the year.

Ray Warner received the Bill Nelson Award honoring the Nelson-Tebedo Health Resource Center’s outstanding volunteer of the year. And Christopher Salerno received the Bruce Long Award for outstanding development department volunteer.

RCD also recognized 104 volunteers who contributed more than 100 hours during 2009. Andrew Whitlock, with 1,185 hours, was recognized for donating the most amount of time last year.
