Here’s a wrap-up of music we’ve received in recent days for your new music Monday.

Pose star Michaela Jaé drops new single ahead of debut album

The Golden Globe-winning and Emmy-nominated actress, singer and activist is set to release her debut album 33 on Sept. 26. To get us ready, she released the new single “Green Lights” last Thursday along with a video. This follows here Pride-laced single “I Am.”

“I wrote this song for all the girls out there who felt like they kept stopping at a green light, they never took it and just sat there and waited until it turned red. Don’t wait at a green light, take it, it’s green,” she said in the song’s announcement.

We know Jaé from her acclaimed acting career. She is the first trans woman to receive a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for her role as ‘Blanca’ on FX’s Pose, which also won her the Golden Globe for Best Actress in 2022. She can currently be seen in Season 2 of Apple’s Loot. She also starred in American Horror Story: Delicate alongside Emma Roberts, Kim Kardashian and Cara Delevingne.

Rainbow Kitten Surprise releases new visual for “Meticulous”

Last Thursday, the genre-bending Rainbow Kitten Surprise dropped a new music video for its latest single “Meticulous” that’s featured on the band’s 22-track opus, LOVE HATE MUSIC BOX, which was released back in May. The release also came with the announcement that the band is hitting the road this fall with a stop in Dallas. RKS’ tour kicks off in September and will stop in Dallas on Nov. 9 at the Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory.

On this tour the band has partnered with charity organization Plus1 donating a $1 per ticket sold. Proceeds will go toward local organizations in each city delivering mental health treatment, access to care, and support for the LGBTQ community.

The band also teamed up with social impact initiative Propeller to win a trip to Los Angeles to see the band while also contributing toward LGBTQ organizations. To enter, folks can support LGBTQ organizations by signing petitions, donating dollars, bid on a signed guitar  or purchasing a limited-edition “Keep Trans Kids Alive” T-shirt. Learn more here.

Out recording artist Boy Blu releases new single “Visions” 

On Friday, fantasy pop star Boy Blu invited fans to his new electro-meets-Dune-inspired  single “Visions” from Sad Magic Records. Produced by Gregory Dillon, the song is a mix of modern queer pop with a beat-driven track and sci-fi edge. At the same time, the song is a personal one for Blu.

“There’s something poetic about dancing while singing the saddest words. “Visions” embodies this blend perfectly: it makes me want to cry and dance at the same time,” Blu said in Friday’s announcement.

Bonus track: Artist collective Revival cover Sly and Family Stone classic with Kathy Brown

Popular for their dance-infused covers of iconic, classic songs – their most recent being a cover of George Michael’s “Freedom” – Revival released a live performanc music video for the Sly and Family Stone bop “Dance To The Music” featuring vocalist Kathy Brown. Queer musician Christopher Peyton is among the founders and players of Revival.
