The final plaintiff’s witness in the Proposition 8 trial testified on Friday. Greg Herek, a psychology professor from UC Davis, told the court that gays and lesbians do not choose their sexual orientation. He said that there is a distinction between the words marriage and partnership.
The defense kept Herek on the stand longer than any other plaintiff witness and tried to show that homosexuality was a choice.  They introduced work by Sigmund Freud written in 1935. Freud believed homosexuality could be “cured” with therapy.
The plaintiffs were expected to rest their case on Monday. Defense has only two witnesses and testimony could end by tomorrow.
