The Prism Health North Texas LifeWalk raised $445,735 that will be used for medical care, testing and research. More than 1,000 people including 100 teams participating.
LifeWalk team Guys & Dolls passed $1 million raised since its inception in 1996. They started Miss LifeWalk, and have held art shows and silent auctions to raise money.
This year’s top team was Team Clover, which raised more than $60,000. Team captain Terry Bax and friends staged the Clover Open, a putt putt bar crawl on the Cedar Springs Strip.
“Thank you to this community who continues to understand the importance of providing access to healthcare to everyone — no matter their ability to pay,” said Prism Health CEO John Carlo. “Our community’s support of LifeWalk helps ensure those living with HIV receive the health care and other services they need for a healthier life.”
Prism Health North Texas performed more than 3,400 HIV tests in 2016. As a member of the AIDS Clinical Research Trial Group, it participated in 28 research studies — including being the first PrEP study site in North Texas,.
