To commemorate the American Library Association’s "Banned Books Week," Resource Center Dallas’ Phil Johnson Historic Archives and Library will hold a "read-out" at noon on Friday, Oct. 2.

Members of the North Texas GLBT community will take turns reading excerpts from banned, challenged and censured books from the library’s collection.

Historically, literature with LGBT content has been consistently challenged based on content.

According to the ALA, "And Tango Makes Three" is the No. 1 most challenged book for three years in a row, and three of the top 10 most challenged books for 2008 are LGBT-oriented.
