Old Navy plans to sell gay Pride T-shirts (above and below) at 26 stores nationwide from Wednesday through June 30 — or until they sell out — and 10 percent of the proceeds will benefit Dan Savage’s Its Gets Better Project.
But some LGBT advocates aren’t satisfied and have launched a petition calling for the retailer to make the T-shirts available in all 50 states.
According to the company’s Facebook page, stores where the T-shirts will be available include two in Dallas — the Galleria and Park Lane. Barton Creek in Austin is the only other location in Texas where the T-shirts will be available. Dallas is one of only three cities, along with Chicago and New York, where the T-Shirts will be available in more than one store.
I think the reason for such a limited release is simple. A lot of homosexuals don’t care for Old Navy much anymore…. Gap and Old Navy are practically out of commission.
Shut Up With Yo Gay Ass .
Maybe they are test marketing the shirts. It makes sense that they don’t wanna make millions of T-Shirts that don’t sell in order to please a few sqeeky wheels. I think its great that they are selling them at all.
Their plan is typical of clothing retailers, nothing unusual.
I can’t wait to get one!
I think they should be available online for those who don’t have access to the select stores!
I am excited… I can’t wait to get one. It make be a small step for Old Navy/GAP but it’s hugh for us.
Interesting (mis)information from the Old Navy Facebook page, which has been copied here.
The Old Navy on Overton Ridge Road @ South Hulen Street in Fort Worth, near the Hulen Mall, also has the Pride shirts. I bought mine there.
Granted, this store did not have a separate display; the shirts were all lumped in with the “ladies graphic tees”, and i don’t think all styles were available. If i recall, they had both of the tees pictured in this article, as well as a men’s white tee with pride flag similar to the grey one above.
It might be worth it to check out your local store, because the list on Facebook does not appear to be 100% accurate.
