Increase seen in number of Spanish-speaking people seeking support

The Dallas Chapter of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays will hold a meeting to gauge interest in forming an Oak Cliff-based satellite chapter, which will be conducted in Spanish.

Kathy Collier, co-president of PFLAG/Dallas, said, “We have seen an increase in the number of Spanish-speaking people in attendance at our meetings over the past several years. Because PFLAG/Dallas should be a resource for everyone who needs it, we felt it was important to be able to reach out to the Spanish-speaking communities.”

Collier added that a Spanish-speaking satellite chapter would enable the organization to bring in more people who share PFLAG’s mission of providing opportunities for dialog about sexual orientation and gender identity, and creating a “society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.

The meeting will be held at the offices of AIDS Arms, 219 Sunset Ave., Ste. 116, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. For more information, go to www.pflagdallas.org or call 972-77-PFLAG.
