Meet Peanut, a 2½-year-old mixed breed who is always ready to play and have fun. Peanut is a bionic dog: After two knee surgeries, he will always need to take it easy and not jump off porches or furniture to avoid putting additional stress on his joints, but Peanut doesn’t let anything slow him down. Peanut is a strong puller, so he might do better in a home with a yard where he can get a little time to get his energy out before walking on the leash, or at least someone who doesn’t mind very brisk walks. Peanut is super smart and loves cheese treats, so he’s already picked up both “sit” and “stay.” Peanut would greatly benefit from additional training to keep his mind sharp and improve his manners. He can get a little over-excited especially first thing in the morning, so he’d love a home with kids 12 and up. Peanut is polite to other dogs on his walks and would like to meet any dogs in the home before adoption.

Right now, all dogs and cats 6 months and older are just $25 to adopt at the SPCA of Texas’ Dallas and Ellis locations. Peanut is waiting to meet you at SPCA of Texas Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center.

In an effort to reduce the potential for COVID-19 to spread, the SPCA of Texas is requiring masks to be worn at all of their facilities. The Jan-Rees Jones Animal Care Center is open for adoptions every day from noon-6 p.m.. Animals are available by walk-in on a first-come, first-served basis. Appointments are also available for select animals. Please browse available animals at SPCA.org/FindAPet and visit SPCA.org/DogAdopt to inquire about a dog or SPCA.org/CatAdopt to inquire about a cat.
