Paul Baker, the founding artistic director of the Dallas Theater Center, died just days before the official opening of the second 50 years of the company in its new digs at the Wyly Theatre. He was iconic in Dallas theater, establishing the DTC’s first acting company (which current A.D. Kevin Moriarty revived last year) and inspiring many theater professionals across North Texas over a long career.
On Dec. 7, a memorial for Baker, who died at age 98, will take place in the Baker Theater (named for him) at the Rosewood Center for Family Arts, home of the Dallas Children’s Theater which was founded by Baker’s daughter, Robyn Flatt.
