Timothy Udell Thompson, 54, of Dallas, passed away June 7, 2015.
He was born Aug. 4, 1960, in White Plains, N.Y., to Henry B. Thompson, Jr. and Barbara (Young) Thompson. Tim grew up in Red Hook, N.Y., and moved to Dallas 25 years ago where he made countless, dear friends who became his Dallas family.
Timmy always had a love for both gardening and animals. Over the years he was known for his beautiful, peaceful gardens and for raising all types of animals including sheep, birds, dogs, fish and rabbits. He was instrumental in promoting Lionhead rabbits to become a recognized breed.
Tim was the retail manager at Brumley Gardens for many years and was an active volunteer for the Greg Dollgener Memorial Aids Fund (GDMAF).
A memorial service will be held at the Interfaith Peace Chapel, 5910 Cedar Springs Road from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1. This is an informal gathering of friends and family to celebrate his life and tell fun stories about Tim. Dress is casual — T-shirts and shorts, as this is what Tim would have wanted. There will be a light food, drinks and fun stories, with a balloon release at 6:45 p.m. in the parking lot.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Greg Dollgener Memorial AIDS Fund, an organization Tim volunteered for since 1993. You can do so by clicking the “Donate” link at GDMAF.org under Tim Thompson memorial or mail a check to GDMAF, Attn. David Hearn, Tim Thompson Memorial, 901 Mossvine Drive, Plano, Texas 75023. Cards may be sent to his family at The Thompson Family, 44 Twin Ponds Drive, Kingston, N.Y. 12401.
