Richard Weidel, 69, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 15, at his home in Dallas.

Richard was born on Nov. 2, 1952, in Big Spring, Texas. He graduated from Big Spring High School and attended Tulane University. He was champion professional bodybuilder, and as a very knowledgeable sommelier, he had worked for Goody Goody as the house wine consultant since 2006.

A very loving, friendly and welcoming soul, Richard was loved by many. He leaves behind a legacy we can all look up to. He was a proud member of the LGBTQ community, and he traveled many places, always making new friends. He was protective of his own and cared for the well-being of others, including furry four-legged friends.

Richard is now reunited with his mother, close friends and furry buddies. We can take comfort knowing that when our time comes, he will be waiting there, smiling and welcoming us to heaven. We will never forget you,

Richard, and you will remain in our hearts. Even as we ache in your absence, we take comfort knowing that it’s not goodbye because we will see you again.

Richard is survived by his best friend and loving husband, Jeffrey Cobb.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 22, at 2 p.m. at 2700 Swiss Ave.
