Gay and lesbian players get into the summer swing of things with Midnight Madness tourney

The Oak Lawn Tennis Association is trying to keep it cool. They’re having a Midnight Madness tournament on Friday night, and they’ll be swinging racquets long after the sun has gone down.
From 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. the gay tennis organization will conduct its regular Friday session at L.B. Houston Tennis Center. But they’ll remain playing till at least 10 p.m. for some additional competitions. Armed with a laser gun, a Wilson representative will measure serve speeds. Awards will be given for fastest serve and serve accuracy. Prizes will also go to the Wimbledon wannabe who hits specific spots designated on the serving area.
OLTA invites all players, men and women of all ability levels, to play. The organization was formed in 1979 by a group of friends who enjoyed tennis. It was the first tennis organization supporting and promoting gay tennis in North Texas.
