Soulforce and Atticus Circle this week announced the launch of a new Web site, www.sevenstraightnights.org, as a virtual gathering place and educational resource for heterosexual people who believe in equality for LGBT people.

The site will serve as the primary organizing hub for “Seven Straight Nights for Equal Rights,” a coordinated campaign of evening events set for the the week of Oct. 7-13. In each participating state, straight citizens will publicly demonstrate their support for gay family, friends and neighbors, and urge political leaders at all levels to reflect that support in public policy, officials with Soulforce and Atticus Circle said.

The site profiles the leaders of initiatives in states as diverse as Georgia, Oregon, and Ohio who will work to motivate their fellow citizens to action by sharing their personal motivations for participating in Seven Straight Nights.

States currently participating in Seven Straight Nights include Alabama, Arizona, California, Georgia, Maine, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, South Carolina, Washington and Wisconsin.
