Sara Stratten, the 17-year veteran with the Fort Worth Police Department who has just been appointed as the department’s liaison to the LGBT community, will sit down for an interview with Dallas Voice on Monday.
Watch for the story to be posted at DallasVoice.com on Monday afternoon.
And be sure to read our exclusive interview with TABC Administrator Alan Steen in the July 17 print issue — and online.
Ask her what does she thinks about the homophobic remarks of her chief about his officers being groped in Rainbow Lounge.
Thanks & congrats to Officer Stratten! We’re looking forward to good things in the near future!
More progress. Great.
Definitely good progress. But this doesn’t solve everything. A number issues still need to be addressed. Lets keep the pressure on Forth Worth to keep producing results in this case.
Rich:
Keeping pressure on Fort Worth? They haven’t responded to any “pressure,” they have simply handled the situation professionally. I guess you think if you just keep repeating it …
The Fort Worth Police liaison so far is just another item for show with no real meaning, all part of what the mayor calls “the Fort Worth Way”.
The new liaison is NOT going to meet with ALL members of the Fort Worth LGBT community, only a select few that supposedly won’t make waves.
All other police liaisons meet with ALL groups that wish to meet with them. So, why can’t Fort Worth’s liaison meet with EVERYONE?
Supposedly she is giving priority to Fort Worth residents, however there are Fort Worth residents who are being excluded. Also, about half the names on the list for next week’s meeting aren’t Fort Worth residents. I been told that the lead attorney that is meeting with her is NOT a Fort Worth resident (can somone confirm that?).
I contrast this with the Dallas police liaison who met with ALL groups IMMEDIATELY after her appointment.
Fort Worth is not inclusvie and discriminates, and this is just the latest example.
At the Dallas Voice’s interview with her on Monday, I certainly hope they will push her for an “on the record” commitment that she will meet with ALL members of the Fort Worth LGBT community IMMEDIATELY.
Excluding people is also counter-productive and forces them to use methods like protesting or disrupting meetings.
Excluding people is also undemocratic and just plain morally wrong.
