June is Pride month around the country and around the world. And since Dallas Pride is held in September, this is a good month to experience the LGBT community in other cities.

This week, we are highlighting Pride celebrations in the four states surrounding Texas, and some of the larger events around the country.
We have included information on Louisiana Pride events, although some activists have called for a boycott of the state — and yes, including The Big Easy — to protest Gov. Bobby Jindal’s executive order promoting discrimination against the LGBT community. But New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu has done his best to countermand the governor’s bigotry by declaring that discrimination won’t be tolerated in his city and local ordinances prohibiting discrimination remain in place.
