Decision on release of killer expected within 2 weeks

The mother of a Houston gay man murdered in 1991 met with Texas parole officials on Tuesday, Oct. 16, in an effort to keep the last of her son’s 10 killers behind bars.

Paul Broussard, 27, was beaten and stabbed to death in an alleged gay-bashing when two carloads of youths jumped him and two friends after they left a nightclub in Houston’s Montrose area.

Jon Buice, now 33, was the knife-man who inflicted the deadly wounds, and he received the longest sentence 45 years.

All nine of the other men have been released.

Broussard’s mother, Nancy Rodriguez, has been fighting to keep Buice locked up. He was denied parole in 2003 and 2005.

The parole board’s decision is expected within the next two weeks, according to reports.
