Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, who helped block the council from considering an LGBT equality resolution earlier this month, sent out the following tweet in response to today’s historic marriage equality rulings from the U.S. Supreme Court.

I suppose we should be thankful for the mayor’s social media “support,” but it appears as though he’s trying to get on the right side of history after the fact.

Our follow-up questions are as follows: Would he now support a council resolution calling on the state Legislature to repeal Texas’ marriage amendment? Furthermore, would he support the provision of the original resolution calling for statewide LGBT employment protections — to back up the city’s own 10-year-old nondiscrimination ordinance?

The mayor doesn’t seem to have learned that when it comes to civil rights, there is no wrong body.

We’ll let you know if he responds.
