chad-mantooth-head-shotChad Mantooth has been named advertising director of Dallas Voice, Dallas Voice and Voice Publishing co-owners Leo Cusimano and Terry Thompson announced this week. Mantooth’s promotion becomes effective April 1.
Mantooth began working for Dallas Voice as an account manager in January 2012.
He was promoted to associate advertising director in April 2013.
“If you have ever shared the responsibility of finding and hiring employees, you know how challenging it is to find a good hire, let alone an exceptional one. With Chad, we found the perfect fit,” Thompson said. “He has a drive to succeed and great relationship skills, and he is a creative a team player who is respected by his supervisors and coworkers alike.
“Chad is a valuable asset to our company, and a friend to the community,”
Thompson added. “This promotion is well deserved.”
Cusimano also praised Mantooth’s creativity and his “great enthusiasm for his work.”
“In his role as associate advertising director, Chad has contributed greatly to the fulfillment of company goals. He has a ‘can do’ attitude about everything and never shies away from a difficult task,” Cusimano said. “Chad’s energy, creativity, desire for a top-quality product and his understanding of marketing made his selection as advertising director an easy choice.”
Mantooth, who has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Kansas, worked as promotions and marketing director for CBS Radio and as a group sales manager for Broadway Across American before they closed their offices in Kansas City. When he was laid off, he decided to take a chance on moving to Dallas without having a job lined up.
“It was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done,” Mantooth said. “But I had visited several times, and I had fallen in love with the city and its people, so
I took the chance. I now consider myself a Texan and even have the boots to prove it — although they are pink!”
Mantooth worked in the promotions department of KLUV 98.7 at CBS Radio Dallas before joining the Dallas Voice staff. He now lives in the Uptown area with his roommate Valerie, two dogs and a cat.
“For me,” Mantooth said, success in the sales field is all about building relationships with my clients. I want to help them reach the fifth-largest LGBT community in the U.S.
“Our readers really are a loyal bunch; they want to spend their money with the companies that support our community,” he continued. “So I want to give a voice to those clients that work with Dallas Voice and help them elevate their brand. We are a small team at Voice Publishing, but I feel we really do deliver a quality product each and every week — something we couldn’t do without our loyal advertisers and readers.”
As advertising director, Mantooth said his goals for Voice Publishing are simple: “Grow, grow, grow! We are a very dedicated and passionate bunch here at the Dallas Voice.  It is imperative for us to grow and adapt. The LGBT landscape is ever-evolving and we must change with the times and keep growing.  We have a ton of great things about to roll out, but I don’t want to show all of our cards just yet.”
Mantooth concluded, “We as a community have made many great strides, but we still have a long way to go to achieve true equality. I believe that if we as a publication can keep giving a voice to the LGBT community, we can change some minds and eventually the world.”
