ORIGINAL POST:
This morning around 3:30 a.m. — less than 24 hours after city workers destroyed the rainbow crosswalks on Cedar Springs Road at the behest of Texas’ rainbow-hating governor — Dallas police arrested a man for trying to re-rainbow the crosswalks.
The man has been identified the man as Joseph Whiteside, 25. He was issued a ticket for a misdemeanor for painting the crosswalks, but he was arrested and is being held on two outstanding felony warrants out of Farmer’s Branch.
Dallas Voice has not be able to find information on the warrants yet.
According to local news reports, Whiteside was arrested at the intersection of Cedar Springs Road and Knight Street. Fox 4 News said he had “reportedly outlined a rainbow and planned to fill it in with chalk,” and that when he was arrested, he had a bag of paint and colored chalk with him.
Crews from Fox 4 were on the scene and got photos of the crosswalk hero at work and of the arrest. You can see them at the Fox 4 website and on Fox 4 reporter Paige Ellenberger’s Facebook page.
