A 22-year-old man is in critical condition after he was severely beaten by six attackers outside a popular gay nightclub in El Paso early this morning, the El Paso Times reports.
The man was waiting for a ride outside the Old Plantation club shortly after midnight when he got into an argument with the six suspects. From the El Paso Times:
Police said that the verbal confrontation became physical and the six suspects allegedly began punching, kicking the victim. The group allegedly also used a bat to hit the victim.
One of the victim’s friends, a woman, tried to help and had her vehicle damaged as she tried to do so.
Police said that the suspect struck her 2003 Jeep Liberty windshield with a bat to stop her from helping the victim. The suspects then fled the area in what appeared to be a van.
At least one media outlet is already calling the incident an anti-gay hate crime, but thus far there is no evidence confirming that.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the El Paso Police Department at 915-832-4400 or Crime Stoppers at 915-566-8477.

One of the six attackers just happened to have a baseball bat?
That alone should be evidence enough that these punk thugs were out looking to hurt someone.
I’d been hearing all about it since 4 a.m. the following Saturday. A bat & a van? … The club’s security staff has gone above and beyond in the past… But city authorities don’t do enough when it’s outside the perimiter. This just adds to the list of the hatred they help spread. What cowards to have threatened the friend who tried to help. This bit of terrorism just adds to the list of dangers. As a neighborhood vendor, some of us work hard at keeping the environment happily with good vibes. I am enfuriated that authorities don’t go above and beyond to do more than patroling in doughnut circles!
I guess these hoodlums are the products of ”Traditional Marriage” and ”Straight-Home” that these anti-gay activists are fighting to preserve? How can anyone take pleasure in attacking and beating a man for just being who he is? It is one thing to attack a thief, a killer, or even a liar, BUT a man who is attracted to another man, how does that harm you. When two men kiss, make out, dance together, get married etc, how does that harm you? I am a believer in Jesus, and I will say at no time He would condone such wickedness. So churches that continue to preach hate towards gays are in deep trouble – Jesus loves EQUALITY for all.
Don’t these people have a cousin or brother who screwed their girlfriend or wife to beat up? And I can’t tell you the last time I was actually in a van with 5 other guys – how gay can you get? And some people wonder why some gay people seem so agitated – go figure.
Hmmmm, an assault outside of a gay bar…..sure sounds like a hate crime to me!!!!
