NBC/NBC Sports posted a video on social media today of Madonna speaking directly to Olympic skater Amber Glenn. The Plano native is the current U.S. National Champion and is vying for a medal in Milan, Italy. Her short program used the song “Like a Prayer” by Madonna.
The singer wished Glenn luck ahead of today’s performance today which NBC posted when the skater watched the message.
“I just watched you dance to my song, ‘Like A Prayer,’ and I have to tell you I was blown away by it,” Madonna said.
“You are an incredible skate. So strong, so beautiful, so brave. I can’t imagine that you would not win, so I just want to say good luck. Go get that gold!”
In visible shock, Glenn called Madonna her queen and responded “”Thank you for supporting athletes and their artistic ventures.”
NBC did report on Tuesday that the openly queer skater fell to 12th place in the women’s short program after landing her triple axel but missing on other jumps. She will fight for a podium placement on Thursday.
